RBI Grade B Officer Recruitment 2025: Eligibility, Exam Dates, And Salary

The Reserve Bank of India is the central banking authority of India. Every year, the RBI conducts recruitment for Grade B Officers to select highly qualified and skilled staff. The official notification for the Grade B recruitment 2025 has been released on the website. The applications are invited for different positions under 3 categories. General (DR), DEPR, and DSIM. 120 vacancies will be filled in the recruitment process. The examination will be written text and interview-based. The entire application process is online

  2. Click on the New Registration link and enter your basic information to generate a Registration Number and Password that is provisional.
  3. Log in correctly, fill out the personal, educational, and professional information details on the application form.
  4. Upload your scanned photograph, signature, and other required documents as per the specified dimensions.
  5. The Application Fee must be paid using a digital mode, which means online transfer.
  6. Submit the final application form and take a printout of the e-receipt and the submitted application for your records.

Age relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST, OBC) and others, as per Government of India rules. For instance, SC/ST candidates get a 5-year relaxation, and OBC candidates get a 3-year relaxation in the upper age limit.

Educational Qualification (General Post)

  • Graduation:  Bachelor’s degree in any subject with a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) is set by the board as a qualification requirement.
    • OR
  • Post-Graduation: An applicant with a Post-Graduate degree with a minimum of 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) is also eligible.

Master’s Degree in Economics/Statistics or related subjects. The educational requirement for the DEPR and DSIM posts is the qualification eligibility criteria.

The Selection Process: Phases of Examination

The RBI Grade B Officer selection is a rigorous three-phase process designed to choose the best talent. Candidates must clear all three stages to be selected.

  1. Preliminary Exam: The preliminary exam is the starting step of this recruitment. This is an online exam carrying 200 marks. The questions are objective-based. Applicants who will pass the preliminary exam will go for the second phase, that is mains exam. The paper has sectional timings and includes:
    • General Awareness (GA)
    • Reasoning Ability
    • English Language
    • Quantitative Aptitude
  2. Main Exam: This is an online exam consisting of three papers, totalling 300 marks. This stage is crucial as the marks obtained here are counted for the final merit list.
    • Paper-I: Economic and Social Issues (ESI) – Objective and Descriptive
    • Paper-II: English (Descriptive Writing)
    • Paper-III: Finance and Management (F&M) – Objective and Descriptive
  3. Interview: Candidates shortlisted from the mains exam are called for a personal interview, which carries 75 marks. This phase assesses your personality, general knowledge, and overall suitability for a leadership role at the central bank.

Salary and Allowances

The initial monthly Gross Emoluments (salary plus allowances, excluding HRA) for a newly recruited RBI Grade B Officer is approximately ₹1,50,374/- in metro cities. The annual Cost to Company (CTC) is very competitive, often ranging between ₹40 to ₹42 Lakh depending on the place of posting.
